The History

In 1686, Jacob Kip purchased land from the Esopus Indian chief, Ankony. The Kips were the first to build and settle what was first called Kipsbergen, and is now the Town of Rhinebeck. This beautiful Hudson River Estate with nearly 200 ancestral acres was named Ankony, in honor of the Indian chief, and stayed in the Kip family for 7 generations.
